How Should You Use Calendar Event QR Codes?
This QR type encodes its final data directly in the QR image. It opens the saved action without a managed redirect, and you create a new QR image whenever that data changes.
Best For
Fixed information and device actions that should open directly from the QR image, with no managed redirect between the scan and its result.
Not Best For
Cases where another QR type is more specific, such as PDF for files, vCard for contact saving, WiFi for network access, or menu QR for restaurant menus.

What QRLynx puts in an Event QR code
QRLynx creates a direct iCalendar 2.0 payload containing one VEVENT. It includes SUMMARY, DTSTART, and deterministic UID and DTSTAMP values. It adds DTEND, LOCATION, and DESCRIPTION when you supply them.
QRLynx now escapes commas, semicolons, backslashes, and line breaks in text fields and rejects an incomplete end or an end that is not after the start. The QR does not contain attendees, recurrence, alarms, a registration record, or a QRLynx redirect.
How to create a Calendar Event QR code with QRLynx
Prepare the event in the time context your audience expects, encode it, and test the actual save flow before distribution.
Write a recognizable event title
Use a concise title that will make sense later in a calendar. QRLynx safely escapes punctuation and line-breaking characters for the iCalendar text field.
Enter the local start
Choose the date and clock time intended for the event. The current generator stores a floating local time without a named time zone or UTC offset, so label the time zone in surrounding copy when people may scan from other regions.
Add a complete optional end
Provide both end date and end time or leave both empty. QRLynx rejects a missing half and requires the end to occur after the start.
Add location and description context
Use the location for a venue, address, room, or online label. Put essential instructions in the description, but keep registration, ticketing, or live updates on a separately maintained page.

Time zones, reminders, registration, and changes
The current QRLynx Event payload uses floating local date-time values. It does not include a TZID or UTC offset for the event start or end. The receiving calendar interprets those clock values in its own environment. For audiences across time zones, keep the time zone visibly stated beside the QR and test the intended calendar applications.
The payload does not contain a VALARM. Any reminder offered after saving comes from the receiving calendar's defaults or the user's choices. Scanning also does not register an attendee, reserve a seat, issue a ticket, send an RSVP, or prove attendance.
This Event QR is a direct static payload. Saving it in a QRLynx account preserves the project, but the printed date, time, location, and description cannot be remotely changed, and QRLynx records no scan analytics for this type. When details may change, use a dynamic URL QR code pointing to a maintained event page.

Will scanning automatically add the event?

The payload uses iCalendar fields, but scanners and calendar apps differ in detection, field display, and import behavior. Test the current versions used by your audience, including representative iPhone and Android flows.
How does QRLynx handle the event time zone?
The current generator stores floating local start and end values without a named time zone or UTC offset. State the intended time zone in the visible event material and test how target calendars interpret the saved time.
Will attendees receive a reminder?
The QRLynx payload does not include an alarm. A reminder may come from the receiving calendar's defaults or the user's later settings, so the organizer should not guarantee one from the QR itself.
Can I create a recurring event?
The current form creates one VEVENT and has no recurrence field. Use separate confirmed events or link to a maintained schedule when occurrences repeat or may change.
Does saving the event register the attendee?
No. The QR transfers calendar details only. Use an event registration or ticketing page when you need names, capacity, payment, tickets, RSVP status, or check-in.
Can I edit the event after printing?
No. The event data is encoded directly in this static QR. A changed date, time, location, or description requires a new QR and reprint. Use a dynamic URL QR for editable live details.
