Spotify QR Code Generator
Free Spotify QR codes for songs, albums, playlists, podcasts, and artist pages. One scan opens Spotify directly on the listener's phone — no copy-paste, no app-switch friction. Dynamic QR means you can swap the track or playlist anytime without reprinting your materials.
TL;DR — Spotify QR code in 60 seconds
Paste your Spotify share link (track, album, playlist, podcast, or artist) into our URL QR generator. Spotify's share URLs auto-deep-link into the Spotify app on both iOS and Android when scanned — no extra configuration needed. Use dynamic QR if you'll ever swap the track; static if the QR represents a permanent album release.
Common mistake: confusing QR codes with Spotify Codes (the scannable bar-pattern Spotify displays in the app). Spotify Codes only work inside the Spotify app via in-app camera; QR codes work on every smartphone's default camera. For printed materials, flyers, album inserts, merch, and social — use QR. For Spotify-user-to-Spotify-user sharing — use Spotify Codes.
Why QR codes beat Spotify Codes for most printed use cases
Spotify's built-in Code feature (the dotted-line pattern you see on album art) is a clever way to share tracks between Spotify users — tap the camera icon in the search bar, point at the code, done. The problem: it only works if you have the Spotify app open. A standard QR code works on every smartphone via the default camera, auto-launches the Spotify app if installed, and gracefully falls back to the web player if not.
This distinction matters for printed materials. A QR code on a poster, album insert, merch tag, or business card reaches the 400M+ smartphone users who don't have Spotify open in that moment — roughly everyone. A Spotify Code reaches only the subset of Spotify users who see your asset, have the app installed, and have it open. For anything you're printing to broadcast beyond existing Spotify users, QR wins.
That said, there are good reasons to put both on an asset — QR for the general audience, Spotify Code for Spotify power-users who can scan from inside their library. Many artists do this on tour posters.

Which Spotify content type maps to which QR
Spotify has six shareable content types. Each has its own URL pattern and each works reliably as a QR destination. Here's the mapping.
Track (single song). URL pattern: open.spotify.com/track/[id]. Get this by hitting the share icon in the Spotify app on a song, then Copy Link. Great for album-promo flyers highlighting the lead single, merchandise insert cards, and artist business cards linking to the signature track.
Album. URL pattern: open.spotify.com/album/[id]. Same path — share icon on album view → Copy Link. Ideal for vinyl-sleeve inserts, album-launch posters, tour merch.
Playlist. URL pattern: open.spotify.com/playlist/[id]. Best for curated-mood sharing: wedding playlists, workout mixes, coffee-shop ambient, event DJ sets. Playlist QRs on wedding invitations are a common pattern — guests scan to add songs or just listen on the way to the venue.
Podcast show or episode. URL pattern: open.spotify.com/show/[id] or /episode/[id]. Podcast QRs on business cards, conference badges, studio signage, and episode-specific mini-cards ship to events where attendees want to subscribe.
Artist. URL pattern: open.spotify.com/artist/[id]. The evergreen artist-link: tour posters, band merch, business cards. Any new release automatically surfaces to the top of the artist page, so one printed QR stays current as catalog grows.
Spotify user profile. URL pattern: open.spotify.com/user/[username]. Mostly for DJs and tastemakers who share curated playlists under their profile. Listeners can follow and see new playlists as they drop.
Use dynamic QR for most of these. Dynamic lets you swap destinations — promoting the single this month, the album next month, the tour dates after that — without reprinting anything. Static works only if the QR represents a specific permanent release (a vinyl sleeve for a specific album, say).
Spotify QR use cases by context
Where Spotify QR codes genuinely move the needle for artists, venues, and brands.
Album release promotion
Dynamic QR on launch posters, store displays, vinyl sleeves, and merch — updates as you shift from pre-release to release to tour phases without replacing the print.
Podcast subscription growth
QR on host business cards, studio branding, and event signage pointing to the show page. Dynamic lets you highlight specific episodes during launch cycles.
Wedding playlist sharing
Custom playlist QR on wedding invitations, table cards, or thank-you inserts — guests scan to listen on the drive or add requests via collaborative playlists.
Venue ambient playlists
Cafés, restaurants, gyms, and retail can share the in-store playlist so customers can keep listening after they leave — builds brand association with sound identity.
Live music merch
Tour merch (t-shirts, posters, tote bags) with artist-page QR. One QR stays relevant across every album cycle because the artist page always surfaces the newest release.
Email signature + business cards
Artist/producer/label business cards with Spotify artist or label-page QR. Professional networking tool that instantly shows your catalog.
Spotify QR vs Spotify Codes — when each wins
Spotify Codes (the dotted-line scannable pattern in the Spotify app) and QR codes serve overlapping but distinct purposes. The wrong choice costs you reach.
Spotify Codes win when: both scanner and displayer are Spotify users, you're sharing within an in-app experience (Instagram Stories where viewers screenshot and scan later), the audience already has the Spotify app open. Spotify Codes do NOT work in your phone's default camera app — only within the Spotify app's in-app scanner.
QR codes win when: your printed/displayed asset reaches people beyond existing active Spotify users (posters, flyers, merch, business cards), you want your content accessible to anyone with a modern smartphone, you want to track scan analytics. QR codes work in every default smartphone camera — no app required from the scanner's side.
Best practice for artists: use both on high-impact assets. QR gets the general audience; Spotify Code gets the Spotify-native power users. Zero extra cost to print both — just 15% extra space on the design.
For everything else — especially anything you're printing for non-Spotify audiences — QR is the default.
Spotify QR Code FAQ
How do I make a QR code for a Spotify playlist?
Open Spotify, tap the share icon on your playlist, Copy Link. Paste the URL (looks like open.spotify.com/playlist/abc123) into our URL QR generator. Download and use anywhere. If you'll ever swap the playlist, use dynamic QR so you can change the destination without reprinting.
Can you create a QR code for a Spotify song?
Yes — the same flow as playlists. In the Spotify app, tap the three-dot menu on the track, hit Share, Copy Link. Paste into our URL QR generator. The generated QR scans to open that track directly in Spotify on both iOS and Android (or the web player if the app isn't installed).
How is a Spotify QR code different from a Spotify Code?
Spotify Codes are the dotted-bar-pattern you see inside the Spotify app — they only scan via the in-app Spotify camera. QR codes are the square grid pattern that works in every smartphone's default camera, no Spotify app required to scan. For print, flyers, merch, and business cards — use QR. For in-app sharing between Spotify users — use Spotify Codes.
Do Spotify QR codes open the app automatically?
Yes on both iOS and Android if the Spotify app is installed. The URL uses universal deep-linking (open.spotify.com/...) that both platforms recognize as a Spotify destination. If the app isn't installed, the QR falls back to the Spotify web player — so it works for every smartphone user.
Should my Spotify QR be dynamic or static?
Dynamic if you'll ever change the destination (promote the single this month, the tour next month, the new album after that). Static only if the QR represents a specific permanent release like a vinyl album sleeve for that exact album. For most marketing purposes, dynamic is the right default.
Is the Spotify QR code generator free?
Yes. QRLynx's URL QR generator produces static Spotify QR codes free with no watermark, no signup. Dynamic Spotify QR codes (editable destination, scan tracking) are included in the free tier too — 3 dynamic QRs per account with no credit card required.
Can I track scans on my Spotify QR code?
Yes, with a dynamic QR. You'll see time, device, geographic location, and browser for every scan. Useful for artists tracking which tour stop had the most engagement, or podcasts measuring which episode-specific QRs converted.
How big should a Spotify QR code be on a flyer or poster?
For reading-distance scans (12-14 in on a handheld flyer): 1.5 × 1.5 inches. For standing-distance concert posters (3-5 feet): 3-4 inches. For drive-by or trade-show displays (8+ feet): 6-8 inches. Use our QR size calculator for exact sizing.
Can I customize the colors of my Spotify QR code?
Yes. Use Spotify's signature green (#1DB954) for the QR modules on white background — instantly recognizable. Keep contrast above 4.5:1 (WCAG AA) for reliable scanning. Alternative: dark green or black on white with a small Spotify logo in the center (requires H-level error correction to preserve scannability).
Can I put my Spotify QR code on merch like t-shirts?
Yes. Use dynamic QR for merch since the artist's featured release will change over the shirt's lifetime. Size 3 × 3 inches minimum on the chest area (scan distance 3-4 feet), H-level error correction for wash durability. See our t-shirt QR guide for print-method specifics.
Does the QR code work if someone doesn't have Spotify installed?
Yes — it falls back to the Spotify web player. The scanner's phone opens the open.spotify.com URL in the default browser, which plays a preview and shows a 'Get Spotify' button. You're not losing reach to non-Spotify users; you're gaining a soft conversion funnel.
Can I make a QR code that links to my Spotify artist profile?
Yes — it's the best single QR for ongoing artist promotion. Get your artist URL from the Spotify app (Share → Copy Link on your artist page). That one QR stays relevant as you release new music because the artist page always surfaces the newest content at the top. Perfect for business cards, tour posters, and merch.
