QR Code Frames
Put a clear action around the code without editing its module pattern. Choose a QRLynx frame, set the label and color, preview the result, and download the framed design.

What QRLynx QR code frames do
QRLynx QR code frames add a visual border or call-to-action label outside the QR module matrix. The generator includes six frame designs plus None. Five styles support custom text up to 24 characters, every frame supports its own color, and the preview uses the same frame geometry as ordinary downloads.
Frame controls are available without an account and on every QRLynx plan. Guests can use the controls and download the account-free raster formats with the normal guest watermark. A registered free Starter account removes that watermark and adds PNG HD. SVG and PDF downloads begin on the paid Starter+ plan.
Six frame designs for different layouts
Choose the shape that gives your QR code the right amount of context.
Scan-me Bar
Places an editable action label in a solid bar below the QR code.
Top Banner
Moves the editable label above the QR code when the instruction should lead.
Arrow
Adds an editable label and an arrow cue that points toward the code.
Border
Uses a simple outline with no text field for a quieter visual treatment.
Badge
Adds an editable rounded badge beneath the QR code for a compact action label.
Corners
Uses camera-style corner brackets with an editable label below the code.
How to add a QR code frame in QRLynx
Build and verify the complete framed design before placing it in print.
Choose the QR content
Open the QRLynx generator, select the QR type, and enter the destination or payload. Choose static or dynamic behavior when that type offers both modes.
Open Design and Frames
Open the Design studio, select Frames, and compare Scan-me bar, Top banner, Arrow, Border, Badge, and Corners in the live preview.
Set the action label
For a text-capable style, enter a label of up to 24 characters, such as View menu, RSVP, or Open guide. Leave it empty when the layout needs no label.
Choose the frame color
Open Style and set the dedicated Frame color. The renderer selects a light or dark label color against solid frame surfaces.
Download and test the final placement
Choose a format available to your account, place the exact exported file at its intended size, and scan the finished design on the real material and under realistic lighting.
Label the action clearly
Build the frame around your own QR code
Use the live QRLynx generator to compare all six designs, edit the label, and choose the frame color.
Frame behavior across preview, saving, and downloads
The design stays consistent while account and output rules remain explicit.
| Area | Current QRLynx behavior | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| QR pattern | The frame wraps the rendered QR without changing its module matrix | Test the final exported placement because no frame can guarantee a scan |
| Text | Five styles accept up to 24 characters; Border has no text control | Use a short label that describes the result of scanning |
| Color | The Style tab stores a separate frame color and selects contrasting label text | Check the complete design against its real background and material |
| Downloads | The frame is included in each ordinary format available to the account | Guests get PNG, JPG, and WebP; registered Starter adds PNG HD; Starter+ adds SVG and PDF |
| Saved design | Signed-in QRs store the frame style, text, and color for later editing | A guest draft is local until the user saves it to an account |
| GS1 packaging preset | The normal design can show a frame, but packaging-safe export removes frames | Use the packaging preset when its strict output is required |
Write the label for the next action
The useful part of a frame is the expectation it sets before a scan.
Restaurant Menu
Use View menu on a table tent or counter sign when the QR opens the current menu.
Event Response
Use RSVP or Save event when the destination performs that exact action.
Product Support
Use Open guide or Setup help when the QR leads to the matching instructions.
Campaign Offer
Use View offer only when the destination immediately explains the advertised offer and terms.
QRLynx QR code frame questions
Exact answers about access, text, color, downloads, saving, and scan testing.
Are QR code frames free in QRLynx?
Yes. The six frame controls are available without an account and on every QRLynx plan. A frame does not add a separate paid gate. Guest downloads still follow the normal guest watermark and format rules. A registered free Starter account removes the watermark.
Which QRLynx frame styles support custom text?
Scan-me bar, Top banner, Arrow, Badge, and Corners support editable text up to 24 characters. Border is the text-free style. None removes the frame entirely.
Can I change the frame color?
Yes. The Style tab has a separate Frame color control. QRLynx accepts a three-digit or six-digit hex color and automatically chooses a light or dark label color against solid frame surfaces.
Does a QRLynx frame change the QR code pattern?
No. The frame compositor places its shapes and label around the rendered QR and does not rewrite the QR module matrix. The layout leaves a light gap around the code, but you should still test the exact exported design after sizing and placement.
Which download formats include the frame?
The frame is included in every ordinary download format available to the account. Guests can use PNG, JPG, and WebP. A registered free Starter account also gets PNG HD. The paid Starter+ plan and higher add SVG and PDF.
Can a frame be used with static and dynamic QR codes?
Yes. A frame is a visual design setting and can wrap ordinary static or dynamic QR output. Dynamic behavior controls the destination and analytics; it does not change the frame contract.
Is the QR code frame saved for later editing?
For a signed-in saved QR code, QRLynx stores the frame style, text, and color and restores them in the editor. A guest can design and download without an account, while saving the QR to the dashboard requires sign-in.
Do frames appear in a GS1 packaging-safe export?
No. The packaging-safe preset deliberately removes frames, logos, gradients, transparency, and watermarking and exports a square black-on-white symbol with a four-module quiet zone. The saved design itself is not changed.
Continue from design to final output
Open the QRLynx QR code generator to build the framed design. Use the QR code readability checker before a print run, review download format access, or compare the Starter+ plan when SVG or PDF output is required.
