QR Codes for Events
Use the right QR for registration, entry, schedules, sessions and follow-up. Keep ticket validation in the event platform, and test the complete attendee path before doors open.

Start by separating four event QR jobs
An event QR code can promote registration, identify a ticket, open attendee information or collect a post-event action, but those jobs need different systems. A public registration QR can be the same for everyone. A ticket QR normally needs a unique record that the ticketing platform validates and marks as used. A schedule or map QR can open shared information. An exhibitor follow-up QR can open an approved contact or booking flow.

QRLynx is not an event ticketing or access-control system. It does not sell tickets, maintain an attendee roster, validate entitlement at the door or prevent the same ticket from being used twice. Keep those functions in the event platform responsible for them.

Ticket QR codes need validation, not only an image
A scannable pattern is not a complete ticket. A ticketing system normally creates a unique identifier, ties it to an order or attendee, checks whether it is valid for the event or time slot and records its use. It should also give staff a manual lookup or other recovery path when the code cannot be presented.
Do not create one shared QR and call it a ticket for controlled entry. Do not use ordinary QRLynx scan analytics as an attendance list: analytics can record scans, but a person may scan more than once, scan before arriving or share the link. Use the event platform's check-in result as the attendance record.
Registration, schedules and session resources
Public event materials are a better fit for a standard URL QR. Use one labeled code for registration before the event, then separate codes for the live schedule, venue map, accessibility information or session resources. If the destination may move after printing, a dynamic URL QR code lets the organizer update the URL while keeping the printed pattern.
Keep the promise beside the code stable. A sign that says "Venue map" should continue to open the map, even if the underlying file or page changes. If the event uses the same physical signs every year, give each sign a clear internal name and verify its destination before the next event rather than assuming last year's routing is still correct.
Design the entry fallback before event day
Test the exact ticket display and scanning app chosen by the event platform. Include paper and mobile examples if both are accepted. Check the venue entrance, lighting, network plan, staff permissions, device charging and the organizer's documented offline behavior. QRLynx cannot determine how a third-party ticketing app handles a weak connection or an already-used ticket.
Provide a manual attendee lookup or staffed help path for a dead phone, damaged print, accessibility need, name mismatch or missing confirmation. Keep a readable event domain and support instruction available for informational QRs. A QR should shorten a path, not become the only way a guest can enter or obtain essential information.
Keep attendee and exhibitor data in the right workflow
Registration and ticketing systems may hold names, contact information, accessibility requests, payment details and attendance records. Review the system's access, notices, retention, integrations and staff roles. Avoid placing personal attendee information directly in a publicly readable QR payload.
For an exhibitor booth, link to a clear next action such as a product resource, meeting calendar or approved contact form. A QRLynx Business lead form can collect basic configured contact fields, but it is not an event badge scanner or CRM. Explain what the visitor receives and how the information will be used before submission.
Measure scans, check-ins and outcomes separately
A dynamic QRLynx code can measure scans for a printed registration sign, schedule, session resource or exhibitor action. That count does not prove registrations, attendance, qualified leads or sales. Compare QRLynx scans with the registration platform's completed registrations, the check-in platform's accepted entries and the destination system's submissions.
Use one code or campaign identifier per meaningful placement when the comparison matters. A lobby poster, badge back and session slide serve different moments. Document the mapping before printing so the post-event report does not combine unlike actions.

Choose which event, ticketing, content, CRM or form system owns the result of each scan.
Choose the QR source

Label each placement
Tell attendees what scanning opens and include a readable domain or staffed alternative for essential tasks.
Test the real environment
Test final tickets, signs and screens with the actual scanning app, devices, permissions, lighting and network plan.
Prepare recovery paths
Document manual lookup, help-desk, accessibility and device-failure procedures before staff training.
Reconcile the right metrics
Report scans, registrations, accepted check-ins and submissions from their respective systems instead of treating them as one number.

Link a public event page, agenda, map or session resource. Use your ticketing platform's own unique codes for controlled entry.
Event QR code questions
Can QRLynx create event tickets?
No. QRLynx can create QR links and bulk dynamic URL codes, but it is not a ticketing or access-control platform. Use the ticketing system's unique codes when the door team must validate entitlement, reject an invalid or already-used ticket and record attendance.
Can I use one QR code for event registration?
Yes. A shared QR can link posters, invitations or social graphics to the public registration page. Use a dynamic code when the destination may change after printing or the organizer needs QRLynx scan analytics.
Is a QR scan the same as an event check-in?
No. A scan can happen before arrival, more than once or on a shared device. Attendance should come from the ticketing or check-in platform's accepted check-in record.
Can the same event QR be reused next year?
A reusable dynamic informational code can be updated for the next edition when its printed label remains accurate. Do not reuse old unique ticket identifiers or assume last year's sign still points to the correct event without a documented audit.
What happens if an attendee's phone is dead?
Use the recovery process supported by the event platform, such as manual lookup, printed ticket or a staffed help desk. Decide and test that process before the event. A QR should not be the only route for essential access.
Should event organizers use staff phones or dedicated scanners?
Use devices and scanner apps supported by the chosen ticketing platform. Test permissions, battery, camera behavior, sync, network and offline handling in the actual venue. QRLynx does not certify third-party check-in hardware.
Can a QR code collect trade-show leads?
It can open an approved contact, booking or resource flow. QRLynx Business lead forms support basic configured contact fields, but they do not scan attendee badges or replace the exhibitor's CRM and privacy process.
How can we make event QR codes safer to scan?
Use a recognizable event or organizer domain, label the destination and inspect physical signs for replacement stickers. The FTC advises people to inspect QR destinations for spoofed domains, especially when a code unexpectedly requests credentials or payment.
How should event QR performance be reported?
Report each stage from the system that owns it. QRLynx can report dynamic-code scans. The registration platform reports completed registrations, the ticketing platform reports accepted check-ins and the destination system reports forms or bookings.
