Keep permissions in the destination system
A QR code makes a URL easier to open. It does not make a private destination public, and it should not be used to bypass authentication. Before installation, test the link while signed out and with each representative user role.
For drawings, equipment histories, issue forms, and project records, use the destination system's access controls. Avoid putting credentials, personal data, sensitive project identifiers, or security instructions in the QR payload or public label. If a resource must remain restricted, link to the controlled portal rather than to an unrestricted copied file.
