Facebook QR Code Generator
Free Facebook QR codes for Pages, Groups, Events, and Messenger. One scan opens Facebook directly on the viewer's phone — no app-switch friction, no 'search for our page' guesswork. Works for all four Facebook content types.
TL;DR — Facebook QR code in 60 seconds
Get your Facebook URL — it's facebook.com/yourpagename for Pages, facebook.com/groups/groupname for Groups, facebook.com/events/eventid for Events, or m.me/yourpagename for Messenger chat. Paste into our URL QR generator. Scanning opens Facebook directly to that destination.
Facebook deprecated their native QR code feature in 2019 — they used to have in-app QRs, removed them for 'low usage'. External QR codes generated from the Facebook URL are now the only way to share Facebook destinations via scanning. This means brands, local businesses, and event organizers all need external QR generators like QRLynx.
Facebook removed their native QR — here's what replaced it
Facebook killed their native QR code feature in 2019. Before then, each Page could generate an in-app Facebook QR that scanned via the Facebook app's camera. The feature got deprecated because usage was too low to justify maintaining it — most users were using standard QR codes instead, which work universally.
External QR codes (like the ones you generate with QRLynx) fill the gap. You create a QR pointing to your Facebook Page URL, Group URL, Event URL, or Messenger chat URL. Scanning opens the appropriate Facebook destination in the scanner's default browser, which hands off to the Facebook or Messenger app if installed.
For local businesses, event organizers, and community managers, Facebook QRs remain one of the most reliable ways to drive physical-world visitors to specific digital destinations. A printed poster with a Facebook Event QR converts way better than 'search for us on Facebook' text.

Page, Group, Event, or Messenger — which Facebook URL to encode
Facebook has four distinct share-able URL types. Picking the wrong one sends visitors to the wrong destination.
Page URL (facebook.com/yourpagename). Best for broadcast-style audience building. Local restaurants, salons, dentists, retailers. Scan → recipient lands on your Page → taps Follow or Like. One-to-many relationship.
Group URL (facebook.com/groups/groupname). Best for community-building around a shared interest. Neighborhood groups, hobby communities, alumni networks. Scan → recipient lands on the Group → taps Join (pending admin approval if private).
Event URL (facebook.com/events/eventid). Best for time-bounded events — concerts, fundraisers, workshops, local meetups. Scan → recipient lands on the Event page → taps Interested or Going. Typically used on event flyers and posters.
Messenger URL (m.me/yourpagename). Opens Facebook Messenger to a new chat with your Page. Great for customer-service-heavy businesses where you want inquiries funneled to Messenger rather than website contact forms. Used by auto-repair shops, real-estate agents, service providers.
Defaults by business type. Local service business (restaurant, salon): Page URL. Community organization: Group URL. Event-driven business (concerts, classes): Event URL per event. Conversation-heavy business (real estate, repair): Messenger URL.
Facebook QR use cases that deliver results
Local business signage
Facebook Page QR on restaurant/salon/retailer window decals. Walk-by visitors convert to Followers, getting updates on specials, hours, and new product drops in their feed.
Event flyers and posters
Facebook Event QR on printed flyers for concerts, fundraisers, workshops, and meetups. Visitors RSVP instantly; event organizers get attendance projection.
Community group growth
Facebook Group QR on neighborhood bulletin boards, community-center posters, library signage. Converts physical-community members to digital-community participants.
Customer service via Messenger
m.me/yourbiz Messenger QR on receipts, storefront signage, vehicle graphics. Customers message directly instead of calling or emailing. Higher response rates for local businesses.
Schools and organizations
Facebook Page QR on school newsletters, sports-team programs, church bulletins. Parents and members stay informed through Facebook's notification system.
Vehicle graphics + fleet
Page or Messenger QR on service-vehicle door panels. Every stoplight is a potential scan. Works well for home-services, delivery, and field-service businesses.
Facebook QR design — what's specific about the Facebook context
A Facebook QR on local-business signage has a different design context than a typical marketing QR. A few specifics matter.
Color: Facebook blue (#1877F2) on white. Signals the destination immediately. Facebook is the single most recognizable blue in the world — when people see this blue on a poster next to a QR, they know what scanning does.
Labels: 'Follow us on Facebook', 'Join the Group', 'RSVP on Facebook', 'Message us on Messenger'. Each Facebook URL type has a natural call-to-action. Use it — generic 'Scan for more info' converts worse.
Size for outdoor/window signage: 4 × 4 inches minimum. Drive-by and walk-by scan distances are 4-8 feet, so 1:10 rule gives 4-8 inches. Smaller than 4 inches fails too often on window-mounted QRs.
Include a fallback path. Print your Facebook handle in text below or next to the QR (e.g., '@yourbusiness'). Non-scannable users can still search for your Page manually. This doubles your conversion paths.
Outdoor durability. Window-mounted QRs face direct sun for months. Use UV-resistant ink + matte laminate (glossy creates hot-spot glare). See our outdoor signage guide for weather-resistant print specs.
Dynamic QR strongly recommended. Facebook occasionally changes URL patterns (Pages get renamed, Events end, Messenger handles shift). Dynamic QR lets you update the destination without reprinting. For long-life window decals and vehicle graphics this is essential.
Facebook QR Code FAQ
How do I create a QR code for my Facebook page?
Copy your Facebook Page URL (facebook.com/yourpagename). Paste into our URL QR generator. Download the QR. Scanning opens your Facebook Page directly — in the Facebook app if installed, or the web version otherwise.
Does Facebook still have built-in QR codes?
No. Facebook removed the native in-app QR code feature in 2019 due to low usage. External QR codes (generated with tools like QRLynx) pointing to your Facebook URL are now the only way to share Facebook destinations via QR scanning.
Can I make a QR code for a Facebook Group?
Yes. Get the Group URL (facebook.com/groups/yourgroupname), paste into our URL QR generator. The resulting QR opens the Group page where visitors can tap Join (public) or Request to Join (private). Great for community growth on printed materials.
How do I make a QR code for a Facebook Event?
Open the Event on Facebook, tap Share → Copy Link. Paste the URL (facebook.com/events/eventid) into our URL QR generator. Download the QR. Put it on event flyers, posters, and invitations. Scanning opens the Event page where people can RSVP.
How do I make a QR code for Facebook Messenger?
Use your Facebook Page's m.me URL — it's m.me/yourpagename (replace 'yourpagename' with your Page's username). Paste into our URL QR generator. Scanning opens Facebook Messenger directly to a chat with your Page. Perfect for businesses funneling customer inquiries to Messenger.
Is there a free Facebook QR code generator?
Yes — QRLynx's URL QR generator produces Facebook QRs free with no watermark, no signup. Dynamic QRs (editable destination, scan tracking) are included in the free tier (3 dynamic QRs per account, no credit card).
Should my Facebook QR be static or dynamic?
Dynamic is almost always right. Facebook URL patterns change occasionally — Pages get renamed, Events end, Messenger handles shift. Dynamic QR lets you update the destination without reprinting. For long-life window decals, vehicle graphics, and business cards, dynamic avoids reprint costs down the line.
Can I put a Facebook QR on my restaurant or shop window?
Yes — it's one of the most effective Facebook QR placements. Use 4 × 4 inches minimum, UV-resistant ink, matte laminate (to avoid glare from direct sun). Pair with a clear CTA like 'Follow us on Facebook for specials'. See our outdoor signage guide for full print specs.
Does the Facebook QR work without the Facebook app installed?
Yes — it falls back to the Facebook web version in the scanner's browser. They see your Page/Group/Event and can tap to install the app or create an account. You're not losing non-app users; you're routing them through Facebook's own acquisition flow.
Can I track scans on my Facebook QR code?
Yes, with a dynamic QR. You'll see time, device, location, and browser for every scan. Useful for local businesses measuring which physical marketing materials drive the most Page follows, or event organizers measuring which flyer placements generate the most RSVPs.
How big should my Facebook QR be on a flyer?
For reading-distance flyers (12-14 in): 1.5 × 1.5 in. For event posters at 3-5 ft: 3-4 in. For outdoor storefront window decals (4-8 ft): 4-6 in. For vehicle graphics (drive-by at 15+ ft): 6-8 in. Use our QR size calculator for exact sizing.
Can I add my Facebook logo to the center of my QR code?
Yes, with H-level error correction and a logo size of 18% of QR area or less. Using the Facebook 'f' logo in the center (on white QR) immediately signals the destination. Don't exceed 25% coverage or scan reliability drops sharply.
