One Code. Multiple Destinations.
Deliver the right content to the right user. Automatically redirect scanners based on their device type, location, language, or time of day.
Context-Aware User Experiences
A standard QR code is static: it sends everyone to the exact same place. But your users are diverse. They use different phones, live in different countries, and scan at different times. Why treat them all the same?
QR Lynx Smart Redirects allow you to create a single conditional QR code that adapts its behavior in real-time. It acts as a traffic controller, detecting the user's context and routing them to the most relevant destination.
This eliminates friction. No more landing pages asking users to "Choose your Language" or "Select your Store". The QR code simply takes them where they need to go, instantly.
Targeting Capabilities
Route traffic with precision rules.
Device Targeting
Send iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play automatically from a single scan.
Geo-Location
Direct users to their local branch website or regional store based on the country or city they access from.
Time Scheduling
Rotate destinations based on time of day. Show a 'Breakfast Menu' in the morning and 'Dinner Menu' at night.
Language Detection
Detect the user's browser language setting and route them to the Spanish, French, or English version of your site.
Random Split (A/B)
Split traffic randomly between two URLs to test different landing page designs or messaging strategies.
Scan Count Logic
Reward early adopters. Send the first 50 scanners to a 'Winner' page and the rest to a 'Consolation' page.
Standard vs Smart Redirects
Standard QR Links
- • One static destination only
- • Requires manual user selection
- • Users may land on wrong store
- • No A/B testing capability
Smart Redirect Rules
- • Unlimited destination rules
- • Automatic OS recognition
- • Hyper-localized content
- • Seamless user experience
How to Create Smart Rules
Advanced routing made simple.
Start with a Dynamic QR
Choose the 'URL' type and ensure 'Dynamic' is selected. Smart rules require our routing server to function.
Add Redirect Rules
In the dashboard, go to 'Smart Rules'. Click 'Add Rule', select a condition (e.g., Device: iOS), and enter the specific URL.
Set Default Fallback
Always define a 'Default URL' for users who don't match any of your specific conditions (e.g., Desktop users).
Smart Use Cases
Solving complex routing problems.
App Downloads
One QR code printed on a billboard that works perfectly for both iPhone and Android users.
Global Marketing
A single product packaging that directs customers in Germany to the .de site and US customers to the .com site.
Restaurants
A table QR that shows the Lunch Menu until 4 PM, then automatically switches to the Dinner Menu.
Customer Support
Route scans to 'Live Chat' during business hours and to an 'Email Form' or 'FAQ' during the weekend.
Retail Chains
Direct users to the Google Maps location of the nearest store branch based on their city.
Marketing Tests
Run an A/B test on a print ad by sending 50% of traffic to Landing Page A and 50% to Page B.
Smart Redirect FAQs
Understanding conditional logic.
What happens if a user matches multiple rules?
Rules are prioritized from top to bottom. The system checks them in order, and the first rule that matches the user's condition triggers the redirect.
Does this require the user to enable location?
For country and city targeting, we use IP-based geolocation, which works automatically without asking for GPS permissions. It is fast and privacy-friendly.
Can I combine rules?
Currently, rules are evaluated sequentially. You can set up a chain: 'If iOS -> App Store', then 'If France -> French Site', then 'Default -> English Site'.
How accurate is the device detection?
It is extremely accurate. We analyze the 'User Agent' string sent by the browser to determine the operating system (iOS, Android, Windows, macOS).
Is there a limit to how many rules I can add?
Business plans typically allow for up to 5-10 rules per QR code, while Enterprise plans offer expanded limits for complex routing needs.
Can I use this for social media deep links?
Yes! You can configure rules to detect if a specific app is installed or use it to route mobile users to the app protocol (e.g., instagram://) while desktop users go to the website.
Do automated redirects slow down the loading time?
Not noticeably. The decision logic happens on our global edge servers in milliseconds before the redirection header is sent to the user.
Can I change the rules after printing?
Yes, fully Dynamic. You can add, remove, or reorder rules instantly from your dashboard without affecting the printed QR code.
What is conditional QR code redirection?
Conditional QR code redirection is a feature that sends users to different destination URLs based on real-time conditions like their device type, operating system, geographic location, or time of day. Instead of one static destination, a single QR code can intelligently route each scanner to the most relevant page. QRLynx's Smart Redirect Rules make this easy to configure from your dashboard without any coding.
Can a QR code detect if you are on iOS or Android?
Yes, when a QR code redirects through a dynamic platform like QRLynx, the server reads the device's User Agent string to determine whether the scanner is using iOS, Android, Windows, or macOS. This detection happens instantly on our edge servers, allowing you to automatically send iPhone users to the App Store and Android users to Google Play with a single QR code.
How to create a QR code with multiple destinations?
With QRLynx's Smart Redirect Rules, you create one dynamic QR code and then add conditional rules in your dashboard. Each rule specifies a condition (such as device type, country, or language) and a corresponding destination URL. Rules are evaluated top-to-bottom, and the first matching rule triggers the redirect. A default fallback URL catches any scanners that do not match specific rules.
What is a fallback URL in smart QR codes?
A fallback URL is the default destination that a scanner is redirected to when none of your conditional rules match their device, location, or other criteria. It acts as a safety net ensuring every scan leads somewhere meaningful. In QRLynx, you always set a fallback URL when configuring Smart Redirect Rules, so no scanner is ever left on a dead-end page.
