QR Type Guide

How Should You Use Google Business QR Codes?

Choose static when the destination will stay fixed. Choose dynamic when you need to edit it after printing, measure scans, pause a campaign, or keep one stable short link.

Best For

Campaigns where the scanner expects a focused destination and you may need analytics, design control, or a destination you can update later.

Choose the Right Destination

Match the destination to what the scanner needs: a document to read, contact details to save, a network to join, or a web page to open. Use the related QR types below to compare the available workflows.

Before Printing

Test the final QR at real size, confirm the quiet zone, and use the size calculator when the code will appear on signs, packaging, menus, cards, or other printed material.

Choose the Google destination before you create the QR code

A Google Business QR code is a QR code that opens a link connected to a business on Google or to another business action. The QR pattern does not decide the action. The URL you paste into QRLynx does.

Your goalLink to encodeWhat the scanner can expect
Invite an honest Google reviewYour Google review-request linkGoogle opens the available review flow. The person may need to sign in, and Google controls the final interface.
Show your listingYour Business Profile or Google Maps place linkThe profile can show the information Google makes available, such as hours, photos, reviews, and contact options.
Help people find the locationA shared Google Maps place or directions linkGoogle Maps or a browser opens the chosen place or route. Use the dedicated Google Maps QR code guide for directions-focused setup.
Open your website or booking pageYour verified website or reservation URLThe browser opens that page. Test the complete booking journey before printing.
Start a phone callA telephone payloadUse the phone-call QR code generator, which owns the dialer workflow.

Use one clear action per printed code. A review request on a receipt, directions on an event sign, and booking on an appointment card are separate tasks and should normally use separate QR codes.

How to create a Google Business QR code in QRLynx

1

Choose one destination

For a review request, get the share link from your verified Business Profile. For a profile, place, website, or booking action, copy the exact public link you want people to open.

2

Verify the link

Open it in a signed-out or private browser and confirm the business, location, language, and action are correct. Do not rely on a link that only works in your owner session.

3

Create and customize

Paste the URL into the Google Business generator. Keep strong contrast, preserve a clear quiet zone, and add a short label that matches the destination.

4

Choose static or dynamic

Static encodes the destination directly. Dynamic uses a QRLynx managed redirect so a saved code can be repointed and its redirect scans measured.

5

Test the final material

Download, place the QR at its real print size, and scan the final proof from several phones before producing the full batch.

Ask for Google reviews fairly

Google says reviews should reflect genuine experiences and prohibits incentives such as discounts or free items in exchange for reviews. Invite eligible customers to share honest feedback in neutral language. Do not ask only customers you expect to leave a positive rating, screen people by satisfaction, require a five-star review, or reward a review.

A clear prompt can be: "Share your honest experience on Google". Place it where customers can choose freely, and keep a separate support path available for anyone who needs help.

Google controls account requirements, review eligibility, moderation, display, and the final review interface. A correct review link can make the route easier to reach, but it cannot guarantee that a review is submitted or published. For the focused workflow, see the Google review QR code guide.

Practical placements by business type

Restaurants and Cafes

Use a neutral review request on a receipt or table card, directions on event material, and booking on reservation campaigns.

Retail Stores

Link packaging or receipts to the correct store profile, an honest review request, product information, or customer support.

Service Businesses

Place a tested review or booking QR on completion cards and invoices without making a rating a condition of support or follow-up.

Healthcare Practices

Use privacy-aware placements for directions, booking, or general feedback, and keep protected health information out of QR destinations and prompts.

Hotels and Hospitality

Separate directions, booking, guest information, and honest review requests so each code has one clear action.

Automotive Services

Use invoices, key tags, or service cards for the correct location, booking page, support route, or neutral review request.

Static, dynamic, and measurement boundaries

A static Google Business QR code stores the destination URL in the symbol. It can keep working as long as that URL remains available, but changing the destination requires a new QR code and new print.

A dynamic code stores a QRLynx managed redirect. You can update that redirect after printing, subject to the account and plan controls shown in QRLynx. Managed redirect scans can appear in QRLynx analytics. The destination belongs to Google or the website you selected, so QRLynx scan data does not prove that someone left a review, requested directions, called, visited, booked, purchased, or generated revenue.

The free Starter plan supports saved dynamic QR codes within its current account limit. Included downloads are PNG, JPG, WEBP, and PNG HD. PDF and SVG downloads are available with Starter+. Compare the trade-offs in static vs dynamic QR codes.

Before you print

Match the label to the action

Use wording such as View our profile, Get directions, Book an appointment, or Share your honest experience.

Check the public destination

Test outside your signed-in owner session and confirm the correct business and location open.

Protect readability

Keep dark modules on a light background, preserve the quiet zone, and avoid placing the code over a busy image.

Test the real size

A successful screen preview is not the final test. Scan the actual printed proof at the intended viewing distance.

Use separate campaign codes

Create a distinct managed QR for each placement when you need placement-level scan comparisons.

Recheck external links

Google and booking services control their pages. Recheck important destinations periodically and before a reprint.

Google Business QR code questions

What is a Google Business QR code?

It is a QR code that encodes a selected URL connected to a business action, such as a Business Profile, Google review request, Maps place, website, or booking page. The destination URL, not the QR pattern, determines what opens.

How do I get my Google review-request link?

Open the verified Business Profile you manage and use Google's review-sharing option to copy the current request link. Google can change interface labels, so verify the copied link in a signed-out browser before creating and printing the QR code.

Can I ask customers for a five-star review?

Use a neutral invitation for honest feedback from customers with a genuine experience. Google prohibits incentivized reviews, and a safe workflow does not selectively invite only happy customers or require a positive rating.

Does a scan prove that someone left a Google review?

No. A managed QRLynx code can record the redirect scan. Google controls the review flow and does not send the completed-review result back through that QR scan, so scans and published reviews are separate measurements.

Can the same QR code open reviews, directions, and booking?

A normal Google Business QR code opens one encoded destination. Choose the single action that matches the placement, or send people to a clearly designed landing page when they genuinely need several choices.

Should I use a static or dynamic Google Business QR code?

Use static when the exact destination is stable and direct encoding is the priority. Use dynamic when you need to replace the destination later or compare managed redirect scans by placement. Test either mode before printing.

Is the Google Business QR code free to create?

You can create, customize, and download a static QR as a guest. A free QRLynx account provides the free Starter plan for saved dynamic codes within its current limit. PNG, JPG, WEBP, and PNG HD are included, while PDF and SVG are available with Starter+.

Will the scan always open the Google Maps app?

Not necessarily. The phone, browser, installed apps, sign-in state, region, and Google determine the handoff. Test the exact public link on representative devices and describe the action without promising a specific app screen.

How do I check the QR code before a print run?

Test the destination in a private browser, download the final design, place it at the real print size, and scan the final proof with several phones. You can also use the QR readability checker for an additional image check.
