QR Type Guide
How Should You Use UPI QR Codes?
This QR type encodes its final data directly in the QR image. It opens the saved action without a managed redirect, and you create a new QR image whenever that data changes.
Best For
Fixed information and device actions that should open directly from the QR image, with no managed redirect between the scan and its result.
Not Best For
Cases where another QR type is more specific, such as PDF for files, vCard for contact saving, WiFi for network access, or menu QR for restaurant menus.
Before Printing
Test the final QR at real size, confirm the quiet zone, and use the size calculator when the code will appear on signs, packaging, menus, cards, or other printed material.
What QRLynx puts in a UPI QR code
QRLynx creates a direct upi://pay URI. It always includes the UPI ID as pa, the payee name as pn, and Indian rupees as cu=INR. It adds am when you enter an amount and tn when you enter a note.
For example: upi://pay?pa=merchant%40upi&pn=Demo+Store&am=125.50&cu=INR&tn=Invoice+42. The QR initiates a payment request in a compatible UPI application. QRLynx does not receive, settle, confirm, refund, or reconcile the payment.
How to create a UPI QR code with QRLynx
Verify the receiving identity, build the direct payment payload, and complete a controlled test before public use.
Confirm the receiving UPI ID
Copy the active Virtual Payment Address from the receiving bank or UPI application. QRLynx checks that the text includes an @ sign, but it cannot confirm account ownership or whether the VPA is active.
Enter the verified payee name
Use the person or business name associated with the intended receiver. The payer should still verify the recipient presented by their UPI app before authorizing payment.
Choose open or prefilled amount
Leave the amount empty when the payer should enter it, or add an INR amount to prefill it. Receiving applications and payment rules control whether a displayed amount can be edited.
Add an optional short note
Use the transaction-note field for a short human-readable reference of up to 50 characters. QRLynx does not add merchant category or reconciliation identifiers.
Download the final artwork
PNG, JPG, WEBP, and PNG HD are included. PDF and SVG downloads are available with Starter+.
Run a controlled payment test
Scan with the UPI applications your audience is likely to use. Verify the resolved payee, amount, note, currency, authorization screen, and confirmed receipt in the receiving account.
The four UPI fields supported by QRLynx
The generator intentionally uses a small, visible payment payload. It does not create bank-issued merchant QR credentials.
| QRLynx field | URI parameter | Behavior |
|---|---|---|
| UPI ID (VPA) | pa | Required receiving payment address |
| Payee name | pn | Required name included in the payment URI |
| Amount in INR | am | Optional amount presented to the receiving app |
| Transaction note | tn | Optional short reference, limited to 50 characters in the form |
| Currency | cu | QRLynx sets INR automatically |
Practical UPI QR placements
Match the amount choice and printed context to the payment the customer is expected to make.
Counter payments
Use an open-amount code beside the verified merchant name and UPI ID when each total is different.
Fixed-price items
Prefill the INR amount for one clearly identified item or service, then verify how the target UPI apps present it.
Invoices and requests
Place the QR beside the written invoice total, receiving name, UPI ID, and a short reference that the payer can compare.
Donations
Use an open amount with the verified organization identity and the disclosures required for the campaign.
Payment safety, status, and lifecycle
Scanning this QR prepares a payment, not a receipt. The payer should verify the recipient and amount shown by the UPI application before entering a UPI PIN. NPCI fraud guidance states that scanning a QR code and entering a UPI PIN is for making a payment, not receiving money.
The bank, payment service provider, UPI application, account status, transaction limits, connectivity, risk controls, and applicable fees determine whether a transaction is available, succeeds, is delayed, or is reversed. Confirm payment through the receiving bank or UPI application rather than a screenshot or the QR scan itself.
This QRLynx UPI type is a direct static payload. Saving the project does not make the printed UPI ID or amount remotely editable, and QRLynx does not record scan analytics or payment events for it. If the receiving VPA changes, create, test, and distribute a new UPI QR code.
UPI QR code questions
Answers about the exact payload, compatibility, amount handling, safety, fees, changes, and confirmation.
What does the QRLynx UPI QR generator create?
It creates a direct upi://pay URI containing a UPI ID, payee name, INR currency, and optional amount and note. It does not create a bank-issued merchant account or process the transaction.
Does QRLynx verify my UPI ID?
QRLynx checks that the entered text resembles a VPA by requiring an @ sign. It does not resolve the address, confirm ownership, or test whether the account is active. Verify it in the receiving UPI application and complete a controlled payment test.
Will every UPI app scan this QR identically?
UPI applications can differ in deep-link support, displayed fields, amount editing, account eligibility, and payment flow. Test the applications used by the intended audience and keep the verified payee name and UPI ID visible beside the code.
Can I create an open-amount UPI QR code?
Yes. Leave the amount field empty and QRLynx omits the am parameter. The payer's application then controls amount entry and the rest of the authorization flow.
Does entering an amount guarantee that it cannot be changed?
No universal guarantee should be made from the QR alone. QRLynx includes the amount in the URI, while the receiving UPI application and applicable payment rules determine how it is presented and whether it can be edited.
Are UPI payments always free and instant?
Availability, timing, limits, fees, reversals, and settlement are controlled by the banks, payment providers, account type, and current UPI rules. QRLynx only generates the payment payload.
Can I edit the UPI ID after printing?
No. The UPI ID is encoded directly in this static QR. A changed receiver requires a new QR code, a new test, and replacement of the distributed artwork.
How do I confirm that a customer paid?
Use the transaction status and account records in the receiving bank or UPI application. A scan, payer screenshot, or QRLynx screen is not proof that funds were received.
